Cacilda is 7 years-old and is with ALG since 2020, when she joined our sister charity UPG Portugal Sponsoring Programme, in Chongoene. After the death of her father, Cacilda lives with her mother and one brother. Cacilda’s family faces serious financial difficulties aggravated by the death of her father because her mother does not work. Sometimes she manages to do a few odd jobs at the farming plot, which is the only income she manages to obtain to provide for her children.
Just like the other households we’ve been showing throughout the month, Cacilda’s house is made out of reed, and it is very degraded, exposed to the rain and strong winds. The new households will be made of stronger materials, such as bricks, and will have doors and windows.
