Day 15: Agricultural knowledge for all!

With the local community fighting against hunger after a long lockdown, ALG initiated a pilot project delivering seeds.

From the beginning, a crucial aspect to guarantee the project implementation and success was a need for adequate training. The local population typically makes mistakes during plantation stage and we addressed that issue with our fantastic Local Partner in Manjague, Sister Antónia.

Having agriculture as a hobby and passion, Sister Antónia quickly offered her knowledge to train the beneficiary families. With her informative sessions and site visits, these families learned to plant correctly, how to cover the seeds and care for them securing their growth and results for family nutrition.

A total of 55 families in the rural community of Manjangue were part of the pilot project that started during the State of Emergency. Crop seeds for these families had a total cost of £40.
